For a front only dashcam under $100, it’s hard to beat the A119 Mini 2 with a 2K Starvis 2 sensor.

On the other end of the spectrum is their new flagship A329. It records in 4K, 60fps, lets you add an optional rear cam, and adds some extra features like external SSD support for extended recording capacity.

This is the dashcam from the recent viral insurance fraud video, but nowadays it’s worth springing for the A229 Plus at minimum for a few extra bucks.

The Pro upgrades the front cam to a 4K Starvis 2 sensor. The A229 Pro’s are the primary dashcam I run in both of my family’s vehicles.

Viofo’s latest flagship that adds 4K 60fps up front and 4TB SSD support.

IMO the A229 Plus/Pro are the sweet spots in price/performance.

Thinkware’s dashcams specialize in the energy saving parking recording mode. I like these for long term parking recording to record for 1-2 weeks instead of just 1 day.

The U3000 uses a 4K Starvis 2 sensor up front and 2K for the rear. It also adds radar front and rear to track vehicles and wake up the dashcam to record before any impacts occur.

Get remote notifications while you’re away from your vehicle or even livestream into your car in realtime.

Standard 4K model which relies on an external WiFI hotspot or LTE module.

Make cloud connectivity easier by integrating the LTE antennas and SIM card into the dashcam.

For a stealthier setup, the Box version lets you tuck most of the dashcam away, leaving just the smaller camera and mic up on your front and rear windows.

Nexigo

Escort

If you run a windshield mount Escort radar detector (or a Uniden on a single suction cup mount or Blendmount), you can connect this 1080p add-on dashcam that shares the same mount and power cable as your RD.

There are now several dashcams on the market with a second telephoto lens that helps zoom in and capture details like faces and license plates that single lens dashcams with just a wide angle lens will struggle to capture.

This is a secondary 2K add-on camera for the A229 Plus and Pro. It plugs into the rear camera port so you do lose the rear cam, but you can connect a third cabin cam if you want. The telephoto isn’t on sale for BF, but you can grab the A229 Plus 1CH or A229 Pro 1CH on sale and then add the telephoto to it.

For Black Friday, Uniden is discounting the R3, R4, R7, and R8, though their normal sale pricing on Amazon is generally the same or better. The new WiFi detectors are not on sale.

Longest range with arrows and bluetooth. More affordable than new R8w with WiFi which is full price for BF/CM.

Best bang for the buck arrow detector. Pair with custom firmware for more features.

Longest range non-arrow detector. More affordable than new R4w with WiFi which is full price for BF/CM.

It’s a classic and it’s now $100 cheaper than the often discounted R4.

Radenso

Radenso DS1 for $349 $299 (Save 14%)

The Radenso DS1, which competes with the Uniden R4 and Escort Max 4, just dropped in price. At $300, that’s a competitive price for a solid detector with bluetooth and autolockouts.

Bonus: If you have an iPhone, DS1 Companion is on sale for BF. Radenso Nexus and Highway Radar for Android are already free.

Escort

My recommendations for the Escorts have been on hold for the time being while they sort out performance issue in their firmware, but they did just release an update that’s starting to help address their issues. In the meantime, they do have some RD’s on sale in both the US & Canada if you’re interested.

Redline 360c (Canada) for $1299 $1149 (Save 12%)

Their flagship, long range, undetectable model with bluetooth and WiFi.

Max 360c Mk II (Canada) for $1149 $999 (Save 13%)

Detectable by RDD’s and a less range than the Redline, but costs less.

Max 360 Mk II (USA) for $549 $489 (Save 11%)

Their most affordable arrow detector. Has Bluetooth for app integration, but no WiFi.

For an integrated radar detector and dashcam, the MaxCam is the one I use for travel. It’s a Max 360c Mk II with WiFi plus an integrated 2K dashcam.
